Emerging from the research question: How do objects carry memory? "Museum-as-Process I " is a research project, conceived as an artistic endeavour that investigates the experience of museum culture through spatial, archival, and perceptual lenses.
My father’s Ottoman coin archive provided a personal starting point for examining how objects acquire significance through collecting, interpretation and display. I connected this enquiry with the histories held within SALT Galata, exploring the relationship between personal and institutional memory.
Looking across established institutions such as the Louvre, intimate museums such as the Museum of Innocence, and emerging models such as V&A East Storehouse, I considered how different museum typologies shape the ways we encounter objects and stories. Through reading, visual references and research into SALT Galata, I explored the spatial experience of selecting, preserving and displaying collections.
These enquiries came together through image, text and editorial sequence, developing the book as both a research document and a foundation for spatial design.
